New Ventures, in partnership with the Mesoamerican Reef Fund (MAR Fund), announces the call for applications for MAR+Invest Hospitality.
The call is open to operating businesses seeking to strengthen their business and financial management while identifying and implementing environmental improvements related to the main impacts of their operations on coral reefs and coastal ecosystems.
The program will enable participating hotels and beach clubs to strengthen their financial and business management capacities, assess key opportunities for environmental improvement, and develop a project proposal, with the possibility of continuing into a specialized support phase and connecting with financing opportunities.
MAR+Invest Hospitality provides technical assistance and specialized support to the hospitality sector in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras.
This virtual training will help businesses strengthen their business model, financial management, and environmental performance, while identifying opportunities to make their operations more efficient, resilient, and sustainable.
Areas of opportunity may include, among others:
Efficient water use and management
Wastewater management and treatment
Energy efficiency and emissions reduction
Waste management and reduction
Sargassum management and environmental challenges associated with tourism operations
Strengthening internal processes and operational practices
Financial preparedness for investments in environmental improvements
Duration: 8 weeks, from March 31 to May 31, 2027
Weekly commitment: Approximately 4 hours
Format: Live virtual workshops and practical activities
Interested businesses must first complete a short application form with general information about their establishment and operations.
Businesses that meet the minimum requirements will be invited to complete a second form requesting more detailed information about their operations, financial situation, team, main business and environmental challenges, as well as their needs and areas of interest for improvement.
