MAR+Invest showcases its blended finance model at the 3rd International Forum on Blue Economy and Growth in Cancún, Quintana Roo
The blue economy seeks a balance between economic development, environmental conservation, and social well-being. However, for this vision to become a reality, strong partnerships are needed to de-risk innovative investments and scale positive impact in the MAR (Mesoamerican Reef).
These sessions explored how public, private, and philanthropic capital, through the blended finance model, can be strategically channeled toward marine conservation projects, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable solutions that improve the quality of life of coastal communities across the four countries of the MAR: Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras.
This model, driven by MAR+Invest, enables funding for projects that would otherwise be too risky for traditional investors. Thanks to this approach, it is possible to support activities such as responsible fishing, sustainable tourism, wastewater treatment, and climate change mitigation, generating benefits for both communities and the ecosystems surrounding them.
We extend our gratitude to the IMIPASteam, the Secretariat of Environment of Quintana Roo, and all the organizers for inviting us to take part in this space, alongside partners who allow us to join forces.
