As part of the financial strategy of the MAR+Invest initiative, Terminator Water Solutions (TWS) has received a loan managed by Viwala, with concessional financing from the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR), co-invested with private sector resources.

🪸 What impact does TWS have?

Terminator Water Solutions develops innovative technologies for the efficient and sustainable treatment of domestic wastewater. With its new product WOMBAT 1000, it aims to improve sanitation in coastal communities and support the health of the Mesoamerican Reef (MAR).

Untreated domestic wastewater harms the reef by introducing excess nutrients that promote algae overgrowth, which competes with coral for space. 

This initiative aligns with SDG #6: Clean Water & Sanitation.

MAR+Invest, supported by GFCR, is a strategic alliance of organizations including Mesoamerican Reef Fund (MAR Fund), Mexican Fund for Conservation of Nature (FMCN), Sureste Sostenible, Healthy Reefs for Healthy People, New Ventures México and VIWALA. It mobilizes private capital for businesses that generate positive impact on the MAR and its coastal communities.
